This strive to reunite the stars of
White Men Can't Jump
will much likely be remembered as the movie this allegedly inspired a number of copycat arsons in the New York subway system. In other words, the movie itself is too perfunctory to be remembered for any other reason. Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes share their established chemistry as a pair of stepbrothers who work the subway detail as undercover detectives in the NYPD. Woody's a compulsive gambler together with a huge debt problem to contend together with, and he's in addition competing together with his brother for the attentions of their new and stunning associate (Jennifer Lopez), who's been assigned to join their investigation of the subway crimes. They're in addition supposed to guard the daily money train (so named for the reason that it contains every day's worth of subway fares), but Woody gets the bright idea this it might be the answer to his money woes. What follows is standard-issue action fare for the mid-1990s--lots of violence, excessive profanity, and strives at witty banter between the costars to do it all seem extra entertaining than it really is. You'd want to be a serious Harrelson, Snipes, or Lopez fan to add this movie to your collection. For anyone else, one viewing ought to be enough.

Don't take it too seriously..
2010-06-12
By H. Habersham (South Cak)
It's obvious this is a love it or hate it movie. Those who hate it may be taking the movie way too seriously. I take this movie as action-comedy, and find it to be entertaining. I really want to give it 3 out of five, but i'll add 2 in order to cancel out some of the 1 star reviews.
Formulaic and predictable

By Bradley F. Smith (Miami Beach, FL)
If this were a cartoon, then it would at least not have the pretension of being something that it's not: a sophisticated adult action thriller. The black guy/white guy cop buddy schtick has been done to death: Lethal Weapon etc etc. There's never a moment here when you can't see what's coming next. We do get to see Robert Blake pre-murder charge, and he isn't too bad as the villainous subway boss obsessed with his money train. The hijinks engaged in by Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes (pre-IRS problems) are at least mostly on foot instead of the standard car chase. Jennifer Lopez was riding a wave in 1995, but doesn't have much to do.
Money Train

By Arnita D. Brown (USA)
Two foster brothers work as transit cops. While one's life is as good as it gets, the other's is a pit. After losing his job, getting dumped by his brother, and getting the crap kicked out of him by a loan shark for the umpteenth time, He implements his plan to steal the "money train," a train carrying the New York Subway's weekly revenue. But when things go awry, will his brother be able to save him in time. This really is a pretty good movie, funny, high paced, filled with action.
Money Train has it all

Money Train is the Perfect Action comedy with stellar performaces by both Harrelson and Snipes back together as transit cops always in trouble with chief of police Patterson (Robert Blake) who despises the two.Lopez doesnt really serve much purpose as both of the unlikely brothers fight for her affection. The plot changes as Charlie (Harrelson) decides to rob Patterson's Money Train.Alot of hilarious moments with the two who work well together and proved that in White Men Cant Jump.Good action scenes and great dialogue.Highly recommended!
Action But No Substance
2008-09-09
By S. W. Best (Boston, MA)
This film had one good intention: a decent cast. It lacked direction, however, and seemed to be adrift in a sea of identity confusion. Is it a thriller? Not quite. Is it a "buddy" film. Well, not really. It it a romance? Uh-uh. It is a mish-mash of all of the above. There were some excellent action sequences (many incredibly unbelievable), especially in the last 20 minutes. Some of the comic interplay between Wesley and Woody was amusing, but far from their chemistry in "Jump". J-Lo's character served no purpose except to show a little skin. She slowed the pace down for the first hour of the movie, it seemed like watching it in slow motion. It could have been an excellent action-packed buddy film of the Lethal Weapon genre if only the writers offered us a decent script. Instead, we got disconnected plotting and a whole lot of far-fetched antics. And Robert Blake should have "Virginia Baked" tattooed on his forehead. And what was up with Cooper's character? It seemed like the writers of the script came up with an idea for a serial killer/robber plot, but then couldn't figure out what to do with him and wrote him out of the film halfway through without any resolution for his motive or background. Instead, the writers might have just recently spent an evening watching "The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3" and switched tracks, so to speak, and said "hey, this might be a good idea for that new Harrelson/J-Lo/Snipes film we have to provide a script for tomorrow." The writing and direction seems to be spontaneous, and NOT in a good way.
